When Mark and I were in Sydney, Australia in 2015, we decided to try the Dining Room, Park Hyatt, known for its waterfront view of the Sydney Opera House. We were originally seated a table away from the gorgeous windows, but a local patron graciously offered to switch with us so that we might enjoy an uninterrupted view. It was fabulous!

Basil is a lovely plant, and quite easy to grow. I tuck it around my flower pots, so that I can snip away to my heart’s content. The flavor is best when harvested before the plant has gone to seed. To keep the plant attractive, snip healthy leaves above side branching stems. Place the harvested bunch into a vase of cold water until ready to use… it makes a very attractive bouquet.

This is a great dish to take to gatherings. It takes minutes to prepare, and is easy to pack and transport. Show it off in an attractive serving bowl and watch it disappear!
