I am positively obsessed with making all types of bread. As a result, I literally cannot go more than a few days without whipping up up another loaf. In the spring of 2020, I decided to tackle sourdough with dedication and enthusiasm, and now I can’t stop making it! It is a marvelous thing that three simple ingredients (flour, water, and salt) can give you the essence of life.
Thankfully, Mark shares my love affair with all things gluten. At the moment, his favorites are the focaccia and the sourdough. That said, any time there is a loaf of something baking, he floats into the kitchen like a mouse to cheese. I love it when he invariably exclaims, “That smells SO GOOD!”
And then, when the freshness pasts its peak, there are endless possibilities for leftovers. We are addicted to crunchy croutons, syrup-covered French toast, and Melba toast covered with spreads and toppings. Oh! Do not forget about panzanella! Mark says it is like a big, tasty salad without the greens.
